18 Sep Should You Turn Off Multi-Advertiser Ads on Meta?
Meta has a feature that turns ad browsing into something closer to a feed of its own — click into one ad, and you can end up scrolling through several other advertisers’ ads before finding your way back. It’s called multi-advertiser ads, it’s on by default, and for most advertisers it’s worth turning off.
What it actually does
When someone interacts with your ad, this setting can pull other advertisers’ ads into the same experience, sometimes shrinking your original ad down to a small thumbnail at the bottom of the screen while other ads take over the main view. The person who clicked your ad can end up several ads deep into other businesses’ campaigns before finding their way back to yours.
Why this works against you
Two things go wrong here. First, your ad can become genuinely hard to read once it’s minimized to a thumbnail — text and creative that were designed to be seen at full size lose most of their impact at that scale. Second, you’re voluntarily handing your ad’s audience over to a mixed feed of competing ads, at the exact moment they were engaging with yours specifically.
Neither of these serves you. You paid for the click; you don’t want that attention immediately competing with a lineup of other advertisers.
The fix
Uncheck multi-advertiser ads at the ad level when setting up your campaign. It’s a simple toggle, and turning it off keeps your ad presented as its own experience rather than folded into a browsing feed of other businesses’ ads.
A quick self-check
- Have I checked this setting on my current live ads, or left it at the default?
- Am I aware this could be part of why an ad looks fine in the editor but small or cramped when someone actually sees it?

Frequently Asked Questions
What are multi-advertiser ads on Meta? It’s an ad experience where someone browsing one ad can be shown other advertisers’ ads alongside or after it, sometimes shrinking the original ad down to a small thumbnail at the bottom of the screen once other ads appear. It’s an ad-level setting, on by default.
Should I turn off multi-advertiser ads? Generally, yes. It removes the risk of your ad being shrunk into a tiny, hard-to-read thumbnail once someone browses into other advertisers’ ads, and it keeps your ad from appearing in a mixed feed of competing ads instead of on its own.
Where do I turn off multi-advertiser ads? It’s set at the ad level during ad creation, alongside other ad-level toggles. Unchecking it keeps your ad presented on its own rather than folded into a multi-advertiser browsing experience.
